2027 MCAT Registration Opens October 20–22: Find Your Opening Day

Registration for the 2027 MCAT opens October 20–22, 2026. Yes, you are booking next year’s exam this fall. All January–September 2027 test dates are included in this opening.

The detail to check first: your opening day follows your test center’s location—not where you live. Don’t rely on a general “East Coast versus West Coast” summary, especially if you plan to travel for your exam.

Find your opening day

Each group opens at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time:

  • Group A: Tuesday, October 20, 2026

  • Group B: Wednesday, October 21, 2026

  • Group C: Thursday, October 22, 2026, including Canada and the international locations listed by the AAMC.

Check your planned test location against the official AAMC regional schedule before setting a reminder. The page lists every state and testing location in each group. The 2027 testing calendar also has some dates offered only at select centers, so check both your date and location.

Before you join the queue

A short checklist now can save scrambling when your turn arrives:

  • Check your AAMC login. If you already have an AAMC ID, use that account. Don’t create a second one because you forgot your password.

  • Have your accepted ID nearby. Your registration name must match it exactly. Check the ID requirements before you register.

  • Write down backup options. Have a few dates and locations you could realistically use, not just your first choice.

  • Read the MCAT Essentials and review fees. Know what you are agreeing to before you book.

The AAMC’s registration-day tips cover these steps in more detail. For the registration system, testing calendars, and exam policies, use the AAMC’s MCAT hub.

What time should you log in?

The AAMC recommends signing in no more than 15 minutes before registration opens. People in the waiting room at 11:50 a.m. ET receive randomly assigned places in line. Arriving earlier does not improve that position. People who join after 11:50 a.m. ET go to the end of the line.

If your opening has already passed, you can still search and book available appointments. Opening day is not the only day you can register.

If your preferred appointment is full

Use “Notify me” when your search shows no availability for a date and center. You can keep up to five active notification requests. An email alert does not hold or guarantee a seat; you still need to complete scheduling and payment, and others may receive the same alert.

Read the AAMC appointment-notification instructions so you know what happens when an opening appears.

Once you have a date, work backward. Put classes, work, practice exams, and recovery time on the same calendar. Choose a test date that fits your preparation—not just the first available seat.
